The U. S. Green Building Council is a national non-profit organization dedicated to promoting increased sustainability of the built environment through environmental awareness education and certification programs for improved facility performance.  By providing the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system for buildings, measurements can be taken to verify and insure progress in the quest to improve the built environment's contribution toward the future sustainability of planet Earth.

Wichita Branch                

 Steering Committee

This committee currently consists of four interim officers dedicated to establishing an official branch of the Central Plains Chapter in Wichita.   When this group is accepted by the national organization as an official branch, a membership drive will be initiated.  After a qualifying membership base has been established, official elections will be held to select a Branch Executive Committee. 

Several special interest committees will be established to provide programs and events specific to individual needs.  These sub-committee chairs will be selected through rules of Dynamic Governance by members of each individual committee.

Currently, the steering committee members include:

• Committee Leader: Teresa Burk
• Acting Secretary:  Chris Kliewer
• Acting Treasurer:  Mike Seiwert
• Member-at-Large:  Scott Rains

The Branch Steering Committee meets on the third Tuesday of each month, from 12pm~1pm. 

The Core Committee which is the Steering Committee PLUS all sub-committee chairs, meets the second Monday of each month.

Rescheduling may take place in consideration of extenuating circumstances.
